Restream Alternative: Multistream Platform Compared

A factual look at how Multistream Platform and Restream differ on plans, channels and ingest, so you can decide which fits your streaming setup.

Comparison as of October 3, 2026. Information about Restream comes from its public pages (Restream pricing page), which we reviewed on that date. Plans, prices and features change, so confirm everything on the provider’s own site before you decide. We are not affiliated with Restream, and its name and trademarks belong to its owner. Information about Multistream Platform comes from our own pricing and features pages.

The short version

Both services let you send one live stream to many platforms. Restream is a well-known multistreaming service that also offers a browser-based studio, clips and webinar add-ons. Multistream Platform is a cloud relay: you stream from your own encoder such as OBS Studio or vMix over RTMP or SRT, and we deliver it to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Kick, TikTok and custom endpoints, with multichat, recording, scheduling and an API.

If you want a browser studio with guest invites, Restream’s own pages describe one. If you already have an encoder and want more simultaneous channels on each paid plan, Multistream Platform may fit better. The table below shows what each side publishes.

Channels per plan

Channel counts are the clearest difference between the two sets of plans. On the pages we reviewed, Restream lists 2, 3, 5 and 8 simultaneous channels across its Free, Standard, Professional and Business plans, while Multistream Platform lists 2, 5, 10 and 40+ across Starter, Creator, Professional and Business. Plan names and limits are not identical, so compare the number you actually need rather than the plan names.

Ingest and setup

With Multistream Platform you point your encoder at an RTMP or SRT address in your nearest edge location (US East, US West, EU Central, Tokyo or São Paulo) and add your destinations. See how to multistream with OBS Studio and RTMP vs SRT for details. Restream also works with third-party encoders and has its own browser studio.

Bandwidth

Both services are relays, so you upload one stream rather than one per platform. Restream’s FAQ says you do not need additional bandwidth to multistream. The same logic applies to Multistream Platform; use the bandwidth calculator to size your connection.

Which should you choose?

  • Consider Restream if you want a browser-based studio with guests, or its clips and webinar add-ons.
  • Consider Multistream Platform if you stream from your own encoder and need more simultaneous channels at a given price.
  • Try both. Each has a free plan, so you can test your own setup before paying.
