Fitness Class Live Streaming to Multiple Platforms

An example of how a boutique studio could stream scheduled classes to Facebook, YouTube and TikTok and turn recorded classes into an on-demand channel.
Example use case

The example scenario

This page describes an example use case: an illustrative scenario written to show how a team could set up multistreaming. It is not a customer story, and it does not describe a real organization or real results.

A small fitness studio teaches a regular timetable of classes. It wants members who cannot make it to the studio to join live, and it wants to reach new people on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. Instructors are not technical, so the studio wants a repeatable setup: one camera feed, one stream, and a schedule that does not need to be rebuilt for every class.

What this setup needs

A repeatable weekly timetable

Scheduling with recurrences lets the studio set up classes once and reuse the pattern.

Reach across platforms

One stream is relayed to Facebook, YouTube and TikTok so the studio does not have to run a separate setup for each.

An on-demand library

Cloud recording archives each class, and pre-recorded MP4 files can be looped as a 24/7 channel so there is always something to watch.

Simple operation

Instructors press Go Live once in OBS Studio or a camera app that can output RTMP; the relay handles the rest.

How the setup works

Three steps from a single encoder to every platform.
01
Create the weekly schedule

Add Facebook, YouTube and TikTok as destinations and schedule recurring broadcasts for each class slot.

02
Connect the studio camera

Send one stream from OBS Studio, vMix or a hardware encoder to your ingest URL. Check the sound from the instructor microphone before each class.

03
Teach, record, repeat

Go live once. Afterwards, reuse recordings as an on-demand library or loop them as a 24/7 playlist.

Which plan could fit

A studio streaming a few classes a week to three platforms fits within Creator ($19 per month billed monthly, or $15 per month billed annually): up to 5 channels, 50 streaming hours a month, 1080p at 60fps and 5 hours of cloud storage. The free Starter plan (2 channels, 20 hours, 720p at 30fps) works for trying a first class on two platforms.

Plan details are on the pricing page. Plan limits such as channels, hours and seats are the same ones listed there.

Practical tips

  • Audio is the most important part of a fitness class: use a microphone close to the instructor and keep music at a level that does not drown out the voice.
  • Check the rights for any music you play. Platforms may mute or block streams containing copyrighted music, so confirm your licensing and each platform's rules.
  • Light the instructor from the front, and frame the camera so viewers can see full movements.
  • TikTok is typically watched in portrait orientation. Decide whether you want a vertical output for that destination and test how it looks before the class.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions this example tends to raise.

Can we run the same class on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok?
Yes. Add the platforms as destinations and send one stream. Each platform applies its own eligibility rules and community guidelines.
Can we loop recorded classes between live sessions?
Yes. You can upload MP4 files, set up looping playlists and run a 24/7 channel without keeping a computer switched on.
What do we need at the studio?
A camera or encoder that can send RTMP or SRT, a computer or device running OBS Studio, vMix or similar, a good microphone, and a stable wired internet connection with enough upload speed for one stream.
How many hours can we stream?
Starter includes 20 streaming hours per month, Creator 50, Professional 150 and Business has unlimited streaming under fair use.
